I am setting up a network for a small business and wanted to set up azure ad for them but they couldn't possibly pay for Windows 10 pro on their PCs and was looking for a replacement or a workaround. I'm pretty sure it supports Home versions of Windows. But, really, it all depends on what you want to do with it Remember, anything you do as a workaround will just complicate additional things down the road. Oh, it says something here about connecting to LDAP. Do we have that? You can't authenticate to AD without Pro. What is it about AD that you want them to use? And why can't they buy Pro?

It's not that expensive. Not going to happen, if there is a workaround its not recommended as it will be a disaster to manage at some point. Quite frankly, if they can't afford Windows 10 Pro, then they probably don't need AD. Key word is probably. And it's my understanding that most of the Business features such as joining a domain are not available in Windows 10 Home.

If they are not going to spend the money to set up an AD right, I would present them with a Linux option.. At least they would be compliant on licensing, and you could get them AD features If it were me, I would walk away.
